Simplot Devonport - Potable Water Main Replacement
This project spotlight highlights CONWIK’s engagement by Simplot Australia to deliver the replacement of the potable water main servicing the site, extending from the on-street manifold through to the boiler room. The project formed a critical part of Simplot’s infrastructure upgrade, ensuring a reliable and compliant potable water supply to essential plant operations with minimal disruption to day-to-day activities.
The scope of works included the installation of a DN110 PN10 HDPE potable water main, supported by full trenching and excavation works. CONWIK undertook detailed trench line preparation in strict accordance with relevant Australian Standards, ensuring long-term durability, safety, and compliance. Associated pipework and the installation of a new fire hydrant were also completed as part of the upgrade.
A key challenge of the project was executing the works alongside, and in close proximity to, a live gas main. This required careful planning, rigorous safety controls, and close coordination to manage risk while maintaining uninterrupted services. CONWIK’s experienced team successfully navigated these constraints through disciplined methodology and clear communication on site.
Additional works included the construction of a new concrete ramp servicing the truck weighbridge, enhancing heavy vehicle access and site functionality. Upon completion, the trench line was left fully prepared for hot mix asphalt reinstatement, ensuring a seamless finish and readiness for final surfacing. The project demonstrates CONWIK’s capability to deliver complex civil and services infrastructure works safely, efficiently, and to a high standard within an operational industrial environment.
